    Five Years Ago…

    June 1st, 2010 by admin

    Dear Friends,

…I traded in my corner office for a room with a view.

In 2005 I left my job as Head of Human Resources Development in a major ad agency to establish my own training and coaching company - Creating Tomorrow: The Leadership Consultancy.

“Creating Tomorrow” - the name itself reflects the enormous Leap of Faith this step represents in my life!

As you can imagine, the road has often been rocky - filled with its fair share of both joy and frustration. To commemorate the challenges I’ve faced on my journey thus far, today - 1 June 2010 - I am launching a project that is very near and dear to my heart: Uncaged Birds™.

Would You Prefer Reading Creating Tomorrow In German?

    March 21st, 2010 by admin

    Dear Friends,

This seems to be the month of the new blogs!

I’ve been having an ongoing dialogue with myself about my bilingual audience for some time now. It’s true that many of my professional friends, clients and readers speak excellent English. It’s equally true, however, that a significant number of the above-mentioned group simply find it more convenient to read German than English on any given day of the week.

For that group of people there’s now Creating Tomorrow in German.

This blog will be a selection of older posts from this blog, excerpts from my homepage, as well as posts from Presentation Warrior™ and 360° of Diversity - all written in German. It will also include new post, Slideshare presentations and German-language podcasts.

So, if you’d like to continue following Creating Tomorrow and it’s simply easier for you to get your daily CoachingByte in German: Click. Read. Enjoy.

Resistance as a Part of the Diversity Management Process

The list of companies and organizations that have already signed the Diversity Charta in Germany is impressive. These organizations - e.g. Dresdner Bank or Allianz Insurance - have taken their first energetic steps with a sharpened business sense and - in part - with a high level of PR visibility. With their committment to diversity they will open the doors even wider for more effective integration, while simultaneously securing important market and knowledge potential for themselves.

On Equal Footing in a Changing World

    Dear Friends,

I am very happy to announce a new project under the banner of the Creating Tomorrow franchise: 360° of Diversity is a project that will allow me to focus more specifically on the challenges of effective diversity management within the changing demographics of Germany’s business world. Together with my cooperation partner, sociologist Lale Otyakmaz, I will be supporting corporations and organisations here in Germany as they strive to make the most intelligent usage of the vast human potential Germany has to offer.

How Low is Your Company’s ‘Glass Ceiling’?

    March 18th, 2008 by admin
    business diversity

    Dear Friends,

The emerging Diversity Management scene in Germany is still in its infancy. If you live in Germany, what do you see when you walk through the halls of your office building or factory? Do the people all more or less look alike (and just like you) or are several different nationalities, races, religious groups, etc., represented?

“Free to be You and Me”?

    Barack, Michelle, Oprah

    Dear Friends,

I know that for many Europeans the American style of campaigning is a horse of a decidedly different color. Personalized and media-conveniently dramatic, it’s a long way from what Europeans are used to in their own countries from their own political parties and candidates.

Far from wanting to espouse a personal political opinion, I want to share with you my thoughts of voter loyalties in connection with this election.

Shark, Dolphin, Salmon or Whale: What Style of Leadership is Right for the White House?

    February 11th, 2008 by admin
    B. Obama & H. Clinton

    Dear Friends,

No matter how the coming election in the USA ends, we will have all seen history in the making. For the first time in American history, we have both a women and a person of color campaigning for the office of President of the United States. And for the first time, too, both politicians are arguably feasible candidates for the job.

Best Practice / Worst Practice in Diversity Management

    December 5th, 2007 by admin
diversityDear Friends,Last Friday I had the opportunity to attend a forum on diversity management in Cologne here in Germany.Germany has historically been a much more racially and culturally homogenic country than the USA, and has its own troubled history to come to terms with. Therefore, the concrete challenges with which people are faced here vary somewhat from the situation in the States.

In the end, however, exclusion has the same innate sources no matter what the backstory, as well as the same negative impact on the groups that are marginalized by the mainstream - and on society as a whole.
