Dear Friends,
What happens to the culture of a company when the workforce becomes more diverse? Are employees from differing backgrounds made to feel comfortable being themselves within a supportive and challenging environment? Or are they expected to blend into the woodworks, have a tough hide to deal with the daily barbs of co-workers’ (or management) insensitivity, and be thankful for the sparse professional crumbs sprinkled their way?

Dear Friends,
Taken from: Manager Tools
“…This cast describes how to think about being persuasive in a presentation.
One of the most maligned arts in professional life today is persuasion. The classic case of persuasion falling out of favor is how often professional sales people are viewed as golfers with big expense accounts. Or, perhaps even more perniciously, why is it that all of the sales roles in technology firms are called “Business Development”? Sales is associated with persuasion, and that taint keeps far too many managers from embracing the real value of persuasion.

Dear Friend,
Less than a week before my upcoming teleseminar “Hire the Guy Who’s Going to take your Job“, campagnero and former colleague Ralf Löwe added an entry to his blog based on our recent talk about the the status of job interviewing in the ad industry. Those of you fluent in German are invited to have a look at the result of our musings here –> zweieintel

Over the past twenty years it has become painfully obvious that the majority of diversity initiatives fail to achieve their stated goals and objectives. The reason for this failure can be made obvious by reviewing a recent job description for a diversity consultant at a major law firm. The company wanted a high-level person who was capable of working with powerful attorneys to attract a greater diversity of staff into the company, reduce turnover of minority attorneys, increase involvement of affinity groups throughout the organization, develop and deliver multicultural sensitivity training to offices throughout the world and to help each office with their own unique diversity challenges.

Dear Friends,
Well…I’ve finally done it!
After letting other tasks sidetrack me for longer than I care to admit, I’ve finally put together my schedule of complimentary teleseminars for Fall 07. The November events are already online.
Thanks to all of you who have already expressed their interest by either signing up for sessions or requesting copies of the audio.

Dear Friends,
Many things we learn from experience, but some essentials we can also learn by example.

Dear Friends,
When it comes to conflict, I find that women tend to err to either extreme. Because so many of us have been socialized to facilitate harmony at all cost, we often find it difficult to express ourselves clearly - and with precisely the right dose of energy - when circumstances call for us to cut through the Gordian Knot of interpersonal discord.
This is true in both our personal and professional lives.

Dear Friends,
Ok, the title of one of the key workshops in my Authentic Leadership Competencies™ series is meant as a provocation. But if it shakes up a few HR managers and gets them thinking a bit more seriously about the mid- and long-term implications of an upcoming hire, my job has been done.
