“Putting Down Your ‘S’”: No, You Don’t Have To Be ‘Superwoman’

    November 4th, 2009 by admin

    Update:

If you did not have a chance to tune in live to the interview I gave to Lillian Ogbogoh from Waking Passions on BlogTalkRadio, click here to listen to the recording. Lillian and I talked about:

What leads us - as women - to believe that to ‘have it all‘ we also had to ‘do it all‘?

Is this an issue you are struggling with right now? Consider taking part in our upcoming teleseminar: “Putting Down Your ‘S’”!

    Dear Friends,

This evening I will be interviewed by Lillian Ogbogoh from Waking Passions on BlogTalkRadio as part of her upcoming series “Putting Down Your ‘S’“. This series will discuss the ’superwoman’ syndrome that has afflicted so many (not only) professional women as the traditional role of women in society continues to evolve.

What lead us - as women - to believe that to ‘have it all‘ (a notion I am personally growing increasingly uncomfortable with) we also had to ‘do it all‘?

Instead of sharing responsibility more equally across the board, many women have maneuvered themselves into a position where their burden of responsibility has increased exponentially. Not only are we still responsible for the majority of housekeeping and child rearing, we are now expected to contribute significantly to the financial platform of the family, as well as to make serious hierarchical inroads in the workplace.

What started off as a positive jolt of empowerment (”I am woman!”) has left many feeling disoriented, burnt out and disillusioned. It doesn’t have to be that way, of course. That’s something I talked about in my series of blog posts called “Don’t Turn ‘Help’ Into a Four-Letter Word” earlier this year.

I look forward to elaborating on the subject tonight in my interview with Lillian, as well as during our upcoming telecourse on the subject, designed as a platform to share strategies and tools to break through the vicious cycle by applying your  resources more effectively while expanding and more efficiently mobilizing the support structures in your life.

Click here for more information about tonight’s interview, as well as the dial-in information if you’d like to take part in the conversation!
